The Enormous Potato - review Wednesday

Retold by Aubrey Davis and Illustrated by Dusan Petricic
Published by Kids Can Press

I had the pleasure of meeting and taking a story telling workshop with
Aubrey Davis last fall.

This man was spellbinding, lovely and genuine. I really really liked
him.

The enormous potato is a re-telling of a classic folk tale. A whole
family is needed to pull it out, a whole village is needed to eat it.
A small seed and some good soil and incredible illustrations build and
build to the climax that sends the whole family falling to the ground.
We love this book and while love to read it, it is also one of the
stories we tell in the dark, many versions of it, sometimes it is a
bus stuck in the mud, sometimes it is a carrot... it is an age old
tale and a fantastic re-telling.

If you ever get the chance to meet Aubrey, or better yet - listen to
him tell a story with your eyes closed - jump on it.
